Craving color in my gray environment, this spring I planted some sunflower seeds in a small flowerbed along a block wall in my fathers backyard in Southern California. (I recently had moved from the Pacific Northwest to live with my father after my mother's death.)
My father watered and I wondered.
30 June 2010 the first bloom peeked at me. I looked at it, it looked back at me. After just one click of my camera, the 'fiesta' began! This new bloom was a beginning ... it facilitated acceptance of my mother's death and gray skies ... it added color and promise to my life via photography ... it nurtured my love of color ... this bloom became me!
