Firmament Cracked #2 - Paper Sky
Digital Art - Digital Painting
This is the second in a series of 16 paintings titled FIRMAMENT CRACKED - Inside Trauma. Sometimes it seems that all you believed was real and true is like a thin layer of paper which can crack and tear to reveal a far more dangerous and threatening reality. If the 'sky' or firmament which people once believed was a solid canopy above with God there to open windows so that rain or angels could descend on the world, is actually only an illusion, then we have to alter our belief system, don't we? When trauma comes into a person's life, whether in childhood or adulthood, all that they trusted and thought would be there to protect them, the benevolent overarching good that we want to believe in, cracks and tears apart, like a papier mache construction. It seems that the world itself is no longer at all the place we thought it was. Whether in domestic violence, natural disaster, a sudden health crisis, or crime outside our homes, someone near you, VERY near you, is suffering from current or ongoing trauma which will continue to tear their internal and external world apart. Please let this series of paintings help you understand just a little of what they feel. And please, try to be kind and compassionate toward them, whether or not you understand their situation.
