Firmament Cracked #5 - Hanging Hollow
Digital Art - Digital Painting
This is one of a series of 16 paintings titled, FIRMAMENT CRACKED - Inside Trauma all based on the same sphere hanging in space. It is all digitally painted and manipulated by me, and each in the series has a look and feeling that describes aspects of traumatic experience. For those who want to understand the title, look up the definition, etymology and history of the word firmament and ponder what it means to you, to us as humans.... etc.
Sometimes what we think is fixed and true turns out to be illusion. When all you believed in cracks wide open and you find yourself falling into endless dark space, what happens next? Where do you land? Do you fall forever? Or can you find something firm within when everything outside you seems immaterial and untrue? Sometimes turning things inside out reveals a whole set of realities never imagined. Sometimes the grace of compassion toward others comes as a by-product of experiencing personal trauma. Maybe those who have not suffered a major trauma will gain a better understanding of the feelings of the hundreds around them who suffer trauma and its ongoing effects, by seeing these images, perhaps imagining the powerful emotions and realities which confront a traumatized person. I hope what I have painted of my own trauma can help bring more compassion into this difficult world,
