Firmament Cracked #7 - Beautiful Illusion
Digital Art - Digital Painting
This is the seventh in a series titled FIRMAMENT CRACKED - Inside Trauma. It represents the world and the atmosphere around us as we want it to be. It seems that part of being human is a need to ignore harm and danger, or to be unaware of it, in order to face our everyday life. Most of us travel in cars, talk to strangers, share our affection toward family members without concerns that they may harm us, place our elderly relatives in care homes after visiting and being assured that the carers are responsible and compassionate. We all hear and read about care homes in which patients are abused or neglected behind closed doors, children who are molested by their own family, and know that every minute or so, someone will be killed in a bloody and senseless car accident, due to something beyond their control. Trauma forces people to see the illusion for what it is. In fact, perhaps that is the definition of Trauma--a crack in the illusion of safety and loveliness we once operated within. It is important that our own desire to focus on the beautiful illusion doesn't make us blind, deaf, and unresponsive toward those who are suffering trauma and its ongoing consequences. I hope that this series may bring some understanding and greater compassion toward them, by helping people think and see an image that represents their feelings.
