A modest fishing frenzy around the Delaware Breakwater Lighthouse at Cape Henlopen in the Delaware Bay.
Two lights that guard the harbor around Lewes, Delaware and marking the southern entrance to the Delaware bay. Located off shore of Cape Henlopen these lights can be viewed from the ramparts of the Cape itself at the Cape Henlopen State Park. The view is a rather long distant one. Renting a boat in Lewes or taking the ferry from that port to Cape May, New Jersey will offer a closer view of this sentinel.
Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse, is painted white and is a four story keepers house placed upon a steel caisson, which in turn rests upon a rip rap wall. This house flashes a white light. The Delaware Breakwater Lighthouse rests closer to shore in the East End of the inner breakwater. Again this is a four-story caisson, but painted a rusty brown color, and flashes a red signal.
