Coloured X-ray (front view) of the pelvis of a patient, showing one fixed hip fracture using dynamic hip screws (at left) and one hip fractured. Also known as Open Reduction Internal Fixation (ORIF), each thigh bone (femur) has suffered a fracture to the neck of the bone and one has been surgically immobilized by the insertion of a long metal pin (dynamic hip screw) fixed with metal screws.
