Flame Tree Quilted Wallhanging
Tapestry - Textile - Impressionist Patchwork And Quilting
Reds mingle with tones of purple and lavender and brown to form a hand-quilted patchwork Flame tree, or Flamboyant Tree, or as it is called in Nicaragua, Malinche. Daisy Borge of Matagalpa, Nicaragua quilted my piecework as always with fine stitches. I wrote the following poem..for this the last illustrated poem of the series - Colors of Praise........................................HERE I AM, LORD, USE EVEN ME
Sometimes the colors seem to soar
lifting my heavy feet right off the floor!
Sometimes light sparkles and gleams
touching everything with fairy dust dreams.
I want to stay in this happy perspective
not see the pain with heart perceptive,
Yet there has to be balance,
time for everything in its place.
Lord show me my place, and Your grace!
I know what I can do
and have learned what I cannot do, too.
Now my limits loom much larger,
and my ambitions seem much farther,
not nearly important as they once had been
now when the aging process sets in.
Yet there are books to be made, stories to be told.
not to be bought with silver and gold.
I need your wisdom, Father, Creator,
to use each creation You have given,
Generous Giver, now rather than later.
Some feed the bellies and some feed the heart.
Each is important, each is an art.
The most important is to hear when You call.
Here I am, Lord, use even me, the least of all.
‘…Behold, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away, and your sin is forgiven.’ Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘here am I. Send me!’ Isaiah 6:7-8
