Description:

This painting was inspired by a photograph we took while at the Santa Barbara, Calif. zoo this winter. The rolling hill formation with rocks and palm trees were inspired by the central coast here in California. I was curious, wondering if a Flamingo is a bird or duck family. I learned that Ornithologists (scientists who sturdy birds) spent many years arguing whether flamingos are more like ducks, or more like storks, until they decided that flamingos belong in a group by themselves. No wonder they are so magical and gracious. I am entering this painting at the Cypress Gallery Spring Show. Wish me luck :)
