Description
This summer I went to a place not far from home called Grounds for Sculpture to see a 50 year retrospective exhibit displaying 150 of Seward Johnsons sculptures. He also founded Grounds in 1992. Marilyn would have often been seen in bw in her day so here is my tribute to that era.
The 26-foot-tall (7.9 m) 34,000-pound (15,000 kg) Seward Johnson sculpture, Forever Marilyn, is manufactured of painted stainless steel and aluminum. It is a super-sized sculptural tribute to Marilyn Monroe's iconic scene from Billy Wilder's 1955 infidelity comedy, The Seven-Year Itch, with the figure imitating the instant that a blast of air from a subway vent raises her dress. Inaugurated in July 2011, the statue stood at Pioneer Court in Chicago, Illinois, before it was moved to Palm Springs, California in 2012. The statue was given a farewell sendoff during Palm Springs Village Fest on March 27, 2014, to be displayed at an exhibition honoring Seward in New Jersey.

Wonderful angle and composition, and so nice in b&w! I saw her when she was in Palm Springs and was sad to see her go! :)))fv

Thanks. I did read about her leaving there and how it was not a happy time. Palm Springs seems like a good place for her. Not sure how long she is staying "home" in NJ.
