Description:

This scene depicts a childhood that never was. The violin player is my son-in-law, John; the blond cat is my son's long-departed, overweight cat, Max; the self-taught guitar player is my son, Aaron; The cub scout is myself as a child; the girl holding the baby goat is my wife who raised goats and chickens as a child; the rope climber is my go-everywhere, do-anything daughter, Emily; and the girl holding onto her guinea pig and the dog she cherished for 16 years is my daughter-in-law, Jolene. The frame (not shown), handmade by me, simulates wood siding that reflects the old Chicago neighborhood where our son and our daughter were born.
