Franklin Delano Roosevelt In A Wheelchair
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the 32nd President of the United States and served an unprecedented three terms from 1933 to 1945. He died in his final year in office of a massive cerebral hemorrhage while in Warm Springs, Georgia. In 1921, Roosevelt became paralyzed from the waist down due to polio, and during his entire presidency he was confined to a wheelchair. This sculpture of Roosevelt in a wheelchair is at the entrance of the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial in Washington, D.C. At seven and a half acres, it is the largest presidential memorial on the National Mall.
