Painting - Oil On Canvas
This painting is a two dimensional (abstract) sequel to Free. It depicts the beginning of a new chapter. The womb now vacated, its former inhabitant faced with many new frontiers. I started to experience a sense of real strength and simplicity in abstract art as a powerful source of expression. In a way it reflected my need to simplify the change I was experiencing by attempting to minimize what I see as the overwhelming complications of life. In the past I would often project my feelings through complex three dimensional images, and it worked for me. However when I began to paint freely using larger blocks of colour the feeling of liberation was overwhelming, and to date my abstracts are among my favorite paintings.
