. love your description . here on Maui we call them a lanai . . and most everyone has one . usually covered and often enclosed . if you are really fortunate you have a wrap-around lanai surrounding your entire home which is really cool especially if you have a open beam plantation style home on pier and beam 4 feet off the ground . . I love this place . it is wonderful in monotone . .
