Terry, how long did you have to wait to get that one bird perfectly silhouetted against the sun? It was worth the wait. I'm sure waiting wasn't a problem with such a beautiful scene to look at.

Linda, I couldn't wait too long or else I would have lost the sun. It all came together though. I actually entered this in a contest once and the judges were arguing over whether the bird was Photshopped in or not. It wasn't and I got first in my category. Thanks for your comments.

Description:

This is a silhouette of birds next to Morro Rock in Morro Bay with the sun setting in the background. Predominately orange and black color palette with some blues. This photograph has won a first place award. The bird silhouette in front of the sun was a part of the original capture and not added later (a common question).

Morro Bay is located on the central coast of California and is identified with Morro Rock. It is a fishing town with a Bay. Located there are a couple of state parks and the area has a lot of birds, otters, sea lions, elephants seals and other animals. Morro Rock itself is one of 'Nine Sisters' which are remnants of volcanic activity in the area. The other sisters are inland. It was one of my wife's and mine favorite get aways. A look at my other photos will verify that.
