Frost On The Stoop
Texas has many restored log cabins from early settlement families strewn across the state in parks, museums, and private properties, etc. They were not uncommon sites even in the early 1900s. There were no lakes in Texas back in those days and rivers dry up every summer. To survive, the rancher had to have a water source (river, pond, well, etc) and a pump to move it. The first Aermotor windpumps were wooden (1854) but quickly became metal and spread throughout the land like mushrooms. Some would say the repeating rifle won West, but the windpump surely allowed us to remain.
