Description:

This is another in an ongoing series of autonomic drawings in pen and ink, which was then transferred by laser printer to watercolor paper, watercolored (on 90 lb cold press acid-free paper), with a final retouch with an archival ink ball point pen to bring out some of the original drawn lines and keep highlights running into the shadow areas where detail is often lost.

The titles for these works always arrive after the drawing has been completed. In this work I could feel the contained force flowing through the pen during the drawing process. It was not like running, but more like a power walk where all physical systems are elevated, but with more power reserved for brisk punches, hops - a sense like a boxer who is hopping around the ring but hasn't thrown a punch yet. It is these feelings that the drawing was drawing upon during its creation, and I had a sense at the end that that energy was somehow depicted in the drawing itself.
