Gas Giant Miner 1
Drawing - Ink On Paper
This is an image of a mining colony asset around a gas giant in the future of space colonisation, an old theme of science fiction which I have always found interesting. What interested me about this idea are the visual possibilities of the plumes of unwanted gas material being ejected from the scoop openings by some sort of catalysing process. Were such a thing to happen in reality you could easily imagine that the fact of it might contribute to the cultural identity of the people of the mining colonies or at least provide a point of reference within their mind scape. Or it could simply be taken for granted as one more epic and spectacular element of the work they carry out.
