This equestrian statue of General George Henry Thomas is at the center of Thomas Circle in Washington, DC. General Thomas fought for the Union in the American Civil War, and this traffic circle is named for him (it is at the intersection of Massachusetts and Vermont Avenues, and 14th and M Streets, in Washington). The statue was made by sculptor John Quincy Adams Ward in 1879.
