Description
Nancy Lee Moran took this photo in her studio, in natural window light on October 14, 2016. It shows two dolls by Helen Kish, toddler Tagalong Tatum and girl Lark. On both dolls, Nancy Lee removed the factory face-paint. She then painted the faces herself in 2016, including the eyes. She also made French braids in Lark's mohair wig. Tatum is wearing a smocked dress by the Boneka company. Lark wears an ensemble created by hand, Devonshire Dreams, sewn in 2008 by Lawlee O. The dresses are batiste, which is a lightweight, semi-sheer cotton fabric often used for heirloom sewing.
Tatum is eight inches tall (20 cm), with five joints. Lark is 14 inches tall (35 cm), with thirteen joints. Helen Kish introduced in 2007 her Chrysalis Series of 14" ball-jointed vinyl dolls like Lark. Each Chrysalis doll has thirteen joints (neck, shoulders, knees, wrists, hips at leg, knees and ankles). Each can stand and balance on her own without a doll stand.
