God's Love Notes Hide And Seek
Painting - Watercolor With Pen And Ink Drawing
A tribute to my friends. This is a "Hide and Seek" piece, with approximately 230 hearts hidden within the artwork. Each heart was placed, as my friends surrounded me with kindness after a traumatic accident.
It depicts the Columbia River Gorge as remembered in my childhood -- before there was an I-84 freeway running along side of the Gorge. My parents would drive down from Alberta, Canada, to Portland, Oregon at least twice a year to visit relatives. My dad loved to stop and watch the Indians fish from their homemade platforms that stretched out over the water.
As a child I was in awe of those fishermen because the platforms seemed so high above the water, and some of them didn't look very secure! It was amazing to see them fish with poles they had made, and catch the huge salmon in their nets.
Often, my dad would purchase a fish he had seen them catch.
Some of the platforms are still on The Columbia, and they still sell the fish, especially on the Oregon side of the river. The road back then was 2-laned, curvy and had steep banks. The beauty of the Gorge is something I never tire of! And my husband and I still go there often.
