Description:

During my stay in India I became enthralled by the people and their customs. A great deal of emphasis is placed on respect for your elders and a simple but intimate gesture is done when you meet a respected person, perhaps your father, uncle or mother, by kissing your hands and then kneeling and touching their feet. In my own way, I was intrigued by the elderly women and chose to pay homage to them by painting them. I saw this lady sitting outside a temple, in her own world, perhaps in prayer, or mourning, or just shutting out the noisy world.
