This is a capture of a Dogwood tree in Yosemite Valley.
Most people will travel up to Yosemite to capture the Dogwoods in the spring as the open up their big white blossoms, me included. Truth is I wasn't in Yosemite to shoot the dogwoods during this trip. I was just up camping to enjoy the nice warm calmness of fall.
Little did I know that an early fall snow storm would come and drop 6 inches of snow on the ground. The fall storm introduced a dark flat sky with heavy cloud cover allowing me to slow down the shutter and move the camera vertically while the shuter was open. During the spring the Dogwoods in Yosemite have large white flowers. In the fall the leaves turn yellow.
The green background from the cedars blends well with the yellow dogwoods.
