Painting - Oil Pastel On Paper
Painting of a Nokota Stallion, standing on the plain, perhaps keeping watch so another stallion doesn't steel his mares. Nokotas are wild mustangs off the North Dakota plains. They are believed to be direct descendants of Sitting Bull's war ponies. Strong, tough, brave and intelligent they excel at running long distances, jumping high and long with ease, and traveling over rough terrain. They are a mixture of many horse breeds including Spanish Mustang, Quarter Horse, Draft Horse and Race Horse. They have some very unusual coat colors some even have blue eyes. The coat color type on this stallion is called Sapino, which is basically a coat comprised of blotches and spots. He also has blue eyes which not all that uncommon for the the Nokota Horses.
