Normally when I take a photograph I find a subject that hopefully has a wide range of interest among the people that view my work. Sunrises and sunsets are big as are waterfalls and dramatic skies. But I also look for quality light.
With good light quality you can take a subject that might be dull and un-interesting and turn it into an object of beauty. That is what I hoped to accomplish in this image. I really like how the light on the dried up thistle make the little tufts shine and sparkle.
There was a time that I took my camera with me everwhere I went. This included the 25 mile trip to and from work. Whenever the light seemed right I would jump off of the freeway and take a frontage raod where I could slow down and survey the area. I found this thistle growing on such a day.
Now days a commute with a number of people to ease the fuel cost and so I'm no longer able to stop on a whim.
