Dear Marlene, I hereby use this totally incredible colored pencil work to once and for all, make my ultimate stance that colored pencil works are every bit a total quality, fine art media as much so as acrylic paint or oil paint, and any other media and with this piece that you here exhibit, I hereby use as the proof of all proofs as my defence in the matter ! I hereby rest my case !

Pasadena, CA

AMAZING! And this is color pencil work. The mystery you captured in the expression on the gorilla's face is wonderful - can't help anthopromorphizing and wondering what he/she's thinking.

Looks like this painting has made you quite a following, and rightfully so.

Casa Grande, AZ

Outstanding work. You created such realism and this work speaks volumes.

Greenville, PA

Thanks for the compliment. The gaze is "just off" because a direct stare is interpreted as a sign of aggression and most gorillas will not return a stare, especially in captivity as this one is, unless provoked. They will purposely look just away, keeping you in their peripheral vision. But I agree that it would have made for a meaner, scarier look.

Tampa, FL

The only thing wished in this was that the look was right at the viewer...... terrific rendering.....

Greenville, PA

Thank you, whoever you are.
