Thanks for your comments. My preferred time for shooting the Grand Canyon is 2 hours from sunrise and 2 hours before sunset. It helps bring out the contours better, and the colors are much warmer compared to the cold blues in between.

Perfect lighting comes from experience, and planning. Only shoot the canyon, before 10am or after 4pm and you get the best lighting. But, it does not stop there, as Ansel Adams said "85% is created in the Darkroom" I do the same in LR and PS. In this image, each area is adjusted separately. The tree, grass, each peak, and the sky. Shapening individual areas also. Photoshop = Darkroom, can do all the same things, its just much faster. 8=)
