Green tree frogs are common and are found throughout eastern America. They breed April - August, being especially active during and after a rain storm. The female lays up to 400 eggs which hatch within a week.
This picture was taken November 10, 2009, in Buxton, NC, on the Outer Banks. Somehow it had gotten into our bungalow, and we spent a merry (and exhausting) 20 minutes trying to capture it and put it outside. The leaping ability of these frogs is amazing!
Green tree frogs eat bugs, worms, and other invertebrates - basically anything they can catch and swallow. It is written they make good pets if properly cared for, but I can only warn that if they get out of their terrarium they will be the very devil to catch.
