Such a magnificant animal. It is a shame that Maya was injured and had to be euthanized because Wolves and Siberian Huskies have so many of the same traits as pack and family values in their own ways. They grieve at the loss of a family member and I had a Siberian Husky male that never got over the death of his kennel mate and he waited more than a year for her return, but he never left the last place he saw her except to go outside for necessary reasons. To understand wolves helps to understand some of the Northern dog breeds. Congratulations on your sale and for even getting a wonderful photo....

Gerry Sibell replied:

Carol, thank you for the nice comment. Grizzer and Maya were wonderful wolves to watch and photograph. I feel Grizzer just wanted to be himself and be mild mannered. The alpha role didn't seem to fit him well. Maya was known as both the fisherwolf and the ravenwolf. She loved to catch minnows in the small pool at the Center. She also despised ravens. She caught more than one of them!!
