Aloha Kevin, thank you so much. I find it is usually best to photograph Hamoa Beach early in the morning as the sun rises over Big Island to the east which is out of frame on the horizon to the left from this perspective. Haleakala to the right casts this beautiful black sand beach in deep shadows late in the afternoon, which is soon after this image was shot, as you can see with the tree shadows on the beach down below. I love this beautiful Plumeria tree. I am standing beneath the canopy to shield my camera from the intense sunlight. I like the look of the light on the Palm fronds, yet so much of the colours of the foliage in the foreground is blown out with the sunlight hot spots. I will publish one I photographed of Hamoa at sunrise so you can see the difference with the cooler colours. Thank you so much for your visit and kind note. Aloha 'oe
