Hard-working Pump Jack

A photo of a hard-working pump jack.
(Revision June 06 2013 to better print of photo)
When I was growing up, first in the Plains of Texas, then in West Texas, pump jacks were everywhere. If you drove outside of a town, you saw at least one and usually many of them, scattered all around, or sometimes in big regiments, pumping oil out of the ground. Most of them, to me, looked like big grasshoppers. This one isn't quite like those, being "headless." Still, it has the classic look, overall.
I found it while driving about in Texas. There aren't nearly as many as there used to be, though I've heard they're making a come-back. Now I see mostly big wind farms, hundreds of wind turbines churning out energy. Certainly something that West Texas has a lot of is hot, blowing air.
Anyway, these old things cause me to feel a bit of nostalgia and I thought this orange pump jack was a great photo subject. Hope you like it as well.
