Digital Art - Digital Photo/collage
Alright, apparently I didn't get the memo back in February! I created this heart from a photograph of yellow daffodils. After tweaking and manipulating the daffodils as well as modifying their color I came up with this image of hearts. I intended this image to be a symbol of love and hope and designed it to be sent on a card.. It can be shared with another on any day to express your love.
The English word love can refer to a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes, ranging from pleasure ("I loved that movie") to interpersonal attraction ("I love my partner"). It can refer to an emotion of a strong affection and personal attachment. Love is also a virtue representing human kindness, compassion, and affection and it may describe compassionate and affectionate actions towards other humans, one's self or animals.
In terms of interpersonal attraction, four forms of love have traditionally been distinguished, based on ancient Greek precedent: the love of kinship or familiarity (in Greek, storge), the love of friendship (philia), the love of sexual and/or romantic desire (eros), and self-emptying or divine love (agape). This diversity of uses and meanings, combined with the complexity of the feelings involved, makes love difficult to consistently define, compared to other emotional states.
Love may be understood as part of the survival instinct, a function to keep human beings together against menaces and to facilitate the continuation of the species.
A bit of history about Valentines day...The day was first associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. In 18th-century England, it evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as "valentines"). Valentine's Day symbols that are used today include the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the winged Cupid.
