Photograph - Photograph
Physics research. View of part of the IC-100 heavy ion accelerator at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research at Dubna, Russia. The IC-400 was built to accelerate ions such as carbon-12 up to argon-40. These are fired at targets, either to try to create new elements or to investigate properties of materials at the atomic level.
