Helmeted Guineafowl (Numida meleagrs) inhabit open dry grasslands and savannah with shrubs and trees in parts of east Africa and Madagascar.Also from ancient Roman times these birds have been domesticated in various parts of the world. Although often living in large groups, they form monogamous pairs.
