WOW Linda I LOVE this image. The color and composition is fantastic. The softer and muted tones of the background make the female figure "pop" from the canvas. The muted dead tree branches and subtle faded trees (forest?) in the background make this image "hauntingly enticing". Vtd, Fav'd and Facebooked this image. I guess beauty really IS in the eye of the beholder.

Linda Lees replied:

Darren, I'm so very pleased with your response to this piece! Thank you for your very kind comments. When I created this image I loved the stock image of the girl, I loved her willowy physique, so in response to that I wanted to mirror her looks with the willowy branches. I also wanted to create an image that was unlike my usual story telling images in that no stock pictures are used, just textures and brushes to create a mood rather than a scene. The title for the work came from Thesaurus, it was a sentence on the suggested use of the word "Willowy" I'm happy you like this artwork :-)

Hi, Linda ... A very compelling image, indeed. My first (and typically male) reaction was a strong desire for the flimsy white bows at her hips to come completely undone. My next reaction was a question. What role does all the tree branches play in this image? They occupy so much of the picture that it feels like they are competing with the female figure for attention. Next came the realization that the largest of the birds looks like it is about to attack the female. More drama in an already busy image. Lastly, the translucent skirt caught my attention. Being able to see the cracks (?) or branches (?) strewn on the ground is puzzling. Is the female an apparition in the process of becoming visible or invisible? I absolutely love the various elements of this image ... the slightly erotic female, the muted background, the moon/sun (?), the birds, the ragged border. All elements are, in my opinion, well chosen. I guess I'd just like to see the female made the riveting star of the image instead of having to compete for my attention. Hope all that makes sense.

Linda Lees replied:

George, I'm delighted that this artwork gave you so much to think about.! My first thought about the woman was her willowy looks, that is the reason for the weeping willow branches. I think of her as a creature of the forest, I didn't intend for the birds to look like they were on the attack, more that they are all a part of this mystical forest setting. Most of the works I create are of a definite place, for this work I wanted more to create a mood, so there was a concious decision not to use any stock images of objects, this has been created with the woman as the only stock picture, the rest are textures and brushes. Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know your thoughts on this image, I'm pleased you enjoyed viewing it. I hope you wll take the time to look at other works in my gallery, kind regards, Linda
