Hermaphrodite is an appeal to get over role expectations and social conventions to bring in inner growth and passion into your life.
The picture shows a dancer with a hermaphroditic physis that represents the sexual ambiguity of the human essence which is formed by role expectations and conventions during his social development. With its ability to shed its skin, the snake on the shoulders of the dancer symbolizes renewal and breaking out of existing forms.
On different levels of the picture you can discover physical and ethereal linked together elements of siring, birth and life. So it seems that the dancer is breaking out of an egg or following the symbol of a snake out of her skin, which itself is still impacted by emotional-sensoric looks on the left upper side of the picture. Only becoming aware of and revealing its true essence and turning away from (not only) gender-specific role expectations will bring inner growth into life, that is illustrated by flourishing elements on the dancers left hand and symbols of procreation on the right side of the picture.
