Description:
When I was in High School, the 49’ Merc was my dream car! I wanted more than anything else in the world. I settled for a 49 Plymouth, which served me well…but it never had the Merc’s sleek design!
1949 seems to be a big year of change for Detroit. Many of the models of American cars came out with new radical designs that year.
This particular Mercury has been sitting for a long while, however the body looks pretty sound and someone may want to restore it to it’s original luster.
Look closely and notice the chrome strip on the left rear fender is missing, but that can be replaced.
This was a well built powerful V-8 car in it’s time and appears to have taken a lot of abuse from it’s owners.
Can you imagine what it would look like restored? What a beauty it would be with it’s original paint color, those broad white sidewall tires and all that chrome?
Ah, the 50’s…that was a wonderful time!
