Drawing - Graphite On Paper
Drawn from a live model in Jerusalem, this portrait contains all the pathos of a survivor of the Holocaust from Poland. For sixty years now she has suffered all alone with no one to befriend her and only her memories to haunt her. The German poet Goethe wrote: "Nur wer die sehnsucht kennt, weiss, was ich leide!" "Only one who longing knows knows what I suffer!"
Here you have an opportunity of purchasing a vintage Newman-Cohen work, dating from 1989! A very unusual and outstanding piece. This is an original work done in Jerusalem, signed at lower right in English and in Hebrew, by noted Israeli artist ESTHER NEWMAN-COHEN. Shipped unframed. In mint condition, protected by a plastic cover. Can be shipped worldwide (insurance).
