Description:

Winters are long for country kids in both Canada and the northeastern USA. For many generations these boys and girls spent much of their time out-of-doors, often skating on frozen farm ponds. A few friends would gather on a hastily shoveled rink for an afternoon of "shinny" and plenty of fresh air. Winter days are short and darkness comes early.
