Description:

This painting is a representation of our two sides. The side we show people, is the part of us we dare to leave vulnerable, although we still are sometimes hesitant to do so. The nude, represents vulnerability. Her head is turned in hesitance to be completely vulnerable. Also, note that it is hard to tell what race she is. This coupled with her eyes not showing (eyes being the windows to the soul) is meant to leave the mermaid open to it's viewer, to graft there own soul onto her, no matter who they are, or where they come from. It lets whomever is looking at it bring themselves into the piece. The underwater half represents the side of ourselves we dare not show to the world. The part, we fear is to weird and unacceptable to be seen, for we may be osstrasiesed for it, whether at our core, we are good or not.
