Description:

Painted in July, 2010 from my own reference pics taken the previous year when the Marine Lake was reopened after extensive renovations. To celebrate the event, a Parade of Sail was held featuring sailing craft from many sailing clubs.

The 'Opera' boats featured in my painting are 16 foot clinker built boats originally introduced at Hoylake S.C. in 1902 and where today there are still many which are over 60 years old. Their names are all associated with Operas, for example, boats 1, 2, 10 and 13 are named Fidelio, Aida, Orchid and La Tosca respectively.
