Human brain. Gloved hands hold a healthy brain, seen in front view. The outer brain surface is covered in a network of dark blood vessels. It is made up largely of the extensive folds and convolutions of the cerebrum. The cerebrum is divided into two hemispheres, visible here, split in the midline. The cerebral tissues are involved in conscious thought processes and in voluntary body activity. An adult human brain weighs about 1400 grams.
