I Am Rich - Monochrome-snow Scene
Painting - Watercolor On 140 Lb Paper
This is a monochrome watercolor. A painting is called monochrome when one color is used with black,a mixture of black and white or white. When the color is used with black it is called 'shade',when used with black plus white i.e. grey it is called 'tone' and when used with white it is called 'tint'.
I have used here sepia as my monochrome and since this is a watercolor I have left the paper as white for tint and diluted the color for tone.To understand the shade, tone and tint of any subject monochrome is a great practice,I have done it in this snow scene and greatly enjoyed working with just one color.
The words on 'I am rich' are my own thought and the realisation of this truth makes me happy and free from many worldly limitation that unnecessarily complicates life ! That is why this is a thought not a quote.
This is from the photograph of a friend of mine who was kind enough to give me a black and white photo of this snow scene in England. This is an artwork by Geeta Biswas.
