Surrounded by ice and windblown snow, granite boulders rise above the frozen surface of Meddybemps lake on a cold winter day in Downeast Maine. White clouds streak across a deep blue sky above. It's mid-afternoon and the shadows are starting to lengthen. As the winter progresses, the look of the ice changes quite a bit. We had about 3 inches of windblown snow followed by rain but you can still see a little of the old pristine ice at the lower left. I've applied a painterly artistic effect which is more apparent if you click on the image/green box to magnify it. Digitally manipulated for artistic effect.
