Painting - Watercolor On Paper
In Berlin, Germany before WWII, there was a street called the Koenigsallee which was lined with famous people from Germany's past. During the war, many of the sculptures were damaged. Those that survived were collected and put in a museum that most people didn't know was there. The sculptures seemed like forgotten war veterans to me. I loved the play of light and shadow and the textures of the stone figures and brick walls. This sculpture we nicknamed, "IL Commendatore" because my late husband thought it looked like the statue in the Mozart opera, "Don Giovanni".
