Irish Countryside Of Connemara
Mark E Tisdale
Photograph - Photo
I spent a couple of days wandering around on foot in the rural landscape of Connemara. Specifically, much of that time was in a radius of a hostel overlooking Killary Harbour near the village of Leenane in County Galway. It was, as this picture suggests, everything I had hoped for in a getaway to wander the countryside. While it was cold and often wet, the sun came out often enough to keep the photographer in me moving.
I've said many times and I still say it when I look back at these gorgeous scenes of Connemara that it was so beautiful in winter that I fear if I ever go back in summer, I might not be able to leave.
There was a part of me that wished I had a car to really take in more of Connemara than I could on foot, and I'd love the opportunity some day. Yet, I think all told it was best for me to be on foot. I enjoyed those walks and I may not have traveled a great distance, but I concentrated on the scenes that were before me much more than I would have rushing to find that next stop, the next moment where the sun would burst forth, etc. And there are many days I imagine being back on those roads in Connemara again wandering wherever the wind takes me.
