Painting - Oil On Linen Canvas
Oil Painting by Becky Kim
In ancient Roman religion and myth, Janus (Latin: Ianus, pronounced [ˈia.nus]) is the god of beginnings and transitions, thence also of gates, doors, passages, endings and time. He is usually depicted as having two faces, since he looks to the future and to the past. The Romans named the month of January (Ianuarius) in his honor.
Spending January mostly doing 'hibernation' - recovering, eliminating, planning, simplifying,... mostly thinking about the past and the future and be aware of present time. The cold weather in January added the freshness to my head. This is only painting I did in January this year, so I named it JANUS.
