Japanese tatemaru gata (oval shape) tsuba decorated with taka zogan inlays in high relief. Tsuba is the hand guard of the Japanese swords used by samurai as a currency payment when they needed to make a purchase and the most important collecting item for the Japanese edged weapons collectors. The obverse side features 2 corn cobs decorated in high relief with gold and silver inlays. The seppa dai carries the signature Sen Hide Oko Bunnusai, 1819. The reverse side carries the same signature and features 4 implements of corn cobs decorated in high relief with gold, silver and copper inlays.
