Description
Fabre studies cocoons hatching in a gauze covered bowl. Jean-Henri Casimir Fabre (1823-1915) was a French entomologist, naturalist and author. He was a popular teacher, physicist, chemist and botanist. However, he is probably best known for his findings in the field of entomology, the study of insects, and is considered by many to be the father of modern entomology. Over the years he wrote a series of texts on insects and arachnids that are collectively known as the Souvenirs Entomologiques. He died in 1915 at the age of 91.
