Description
The authentic replica of the Jeanie Johnston tall ship docked on Custom House Quay in Dublin shows how the Irish immigrants made their way across the Atlantic to America during 1847-55.
The ship made 16 journeys with over 2,500 people and incredibly NO loss of life!
Most unusual as history recalls The Coffin Ships. Captains were paid on the number of immigrants per head on arrival. Some ships locked the immigrants in the cargo bays for the entire journey with no food or water - sometimes the entire number of immigrants were dead on arrival.
