Description:
This piece is symbolic of life's journey, beginning with the grounded nature of our earthly endeavors, rising through the growth and transitions of our garden of experience, and transcending the earlthy bonds through spiritual attainment. It is part of both my self-portrait series, and the new works I am creating by combining acrylic painting with an overlay of glass mosaic. The canvas is completely painted with the image before the applcation of glass, which then serves to duplicate the image in a low bas-relief. This type of work can be hung as raw canvas as a "tapestry", stretched onto a frame and hung as a traditional painting, or applied directly to the wall as a "mural".
